VSFA Spring Annual Meeting

Each June the VSFA community comes together for a daylong networking and business education event, a valued opportunity for members to connect with each other while learning ways to sustain, grow, and manage their business.

Member attendance cost is $55. Non-Member attendance cost is $75. Non-Members who choose to join VSFA prior to or after the meeting may apply the difference in cost ($20) to their cost of joining. Attendance cost includes a delicious lunch catered by Stoweflake.

Presented by Scott Smith of Ascend VT

Scott  Smith has over 20 years of professional experience in finance and accounting. He has served as the Chief Financial Officer at Bullrock Corporation, Vermont Teddy Bear, Heritage Aviation, and Hubbardton Forge. In addition, he has also served in various finance and accounting managerial roles at Fab-Tech, Burton Snowboards, and American Skiing Company.

Every business needs a solid financial statement and a foundation of knowledge to ensure its sustainability. Each business is different, and this discussion will draw on a variety of tools and methodologies to help business owners manage with the numbers – plan, measure, and adapt – in order to maximize profitability and succeed. Scott will draw on his experience at various blue chip Vermont companies to delve into how to accurately determine your costs and what that knowledge can mean for your business.

Pointers on Growing Your Sales and Increasing Your Revenue (confirmed)
Dan Reilly of Equinox Food Brokers will provide pointers on how to grow your sales and increase revenue. He will be focusing on sales basics, information for sell sheets, the best way to approach buyers, the importance of the follow-up, tips on working with distributors, promotions and strategies for long-term growth. There will also be time for Q&A.

Presenters: Cathy Bacon of Freedom Foods, Ben Maniscalco of Benito's Hot Sauce

Cassandra LaRae-Perez will lead a discussion among members about the growing service of copacking. What does a co-packer agreement look like and what should producers know before entering into an agreement?
