Join us for our Virtual Spring Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 9th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm. This 2.5-hour event will feature keynote speaker from King Arthur Baking Company, two informative presentations on COGS and social media, and our annual meeting with board elections and a legislative update.

Each June the VSFA community comes together for a daylong networking and business education event, a valued opportunity for members to connect with each other while learning ways to sustain, grow, and manage their business. These resources are needed now more than ever. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, VSFA is pivoting this year’s meeting to a virtual event in order to continue strengthening and supporting our community during these challenging times.

1:30pm - Keynote Speaker: John Tunnicliffe, Director of Camelot, King Arthur Baking Co
Maintaining team joy in a year of uncertainty and beyond: 
Baking with joy since 1790, King Arthur Baking Company is a household name. This employee-owned company was named one of the Best Places to Work in Vermont in 2021 by Vermont Business Magazine. In 2020, KAB not only navigated a pandemic like the rest of us, but they also managed a flour shortage, rebranding, and employee well-being. During this keynote, Director of Camelot John Tunnicliffe will share KAB experience on team building and the importance of lifting up employees during a pandemic and beyond.

2:10pm - Session 1: Cost of Food Sold: A conversation around managing your production costs.
Presented by Daniel Keeney, Farm & Food Business Specialist, Center for an Agricultural Economy (home of the Vermont Food Venture Center) 
Join us for a discussion of the ways of tracking your costs of production for each product you produce, and the relationship of this projected expense with your business' Cost-of-Goods-Sold (COGS). An open-floor conversation will allow the audience to share experiences with the variability of margins in the food sector, and best practices in determining your product's pricing.

2:45pm - Session 2: How to sell on Instagram stories
Presented by Sarah Cowart & Nicole Boyle, Owners, The Social HQ
Learn how to better utilize Instagram stories to connect with your audience, share your brand's story, and convert followers into customers. We will also give you the tools to make creating Instagram stories easier and effective. Instagram has 500 Million users and 1/3 of the most viewed stories are from businesses.

Daniel Keeney, Farm & Food Business Specialist, Center for an Agricultural Economy (home of the Vermont Food Venture Center)
Daniel Keeney is the Farm & Food Business Specialist at the Center for an Agricultural Economy, which manages the Vermont Food Venture Center, the Farm Connex commercial food delivery service, and Just Cut produce for institutional markets. He lives in Calais, Vermont and enjoys a good Rueben on rye.

Sarah Cowart & Nicole Boyle, Owners, The Social HQ
Sarah Cowart and Nicole Boyle are the faces behind The Social HQ, a digital marketing agency, and have each been in the industry for over 3 years. Meeting in middle school this dynamic duo created an agency to help businesses develop and utilize social media to grow their business. Their team offers a variety of services that are customized to each business's goals.
