Lake Champlain Chocolates will be celebrating the release of four new organic bars with free tasting events held at their Factory Store on Pine Street on Saturdays from 12-4 in January
BURLINGTON, VT– Lake Champlain Chocolates(LCC) will be celebrating the release of four new organic bars with free tasting events held at their Factory Store on Pine Street on Saturdays from 12-4 in January.Roasted cacao nibs, spicy habanero, sweet honey, tart raspberry and boozy caramel are some of the irresistible flavors in Lake Champlain Chocolates’ newest additions to their organic chocolate bar line.
It’s Hot, Honey & Heavenly Honey Apiaries
This bar combines the sweet flavor of Vermont honey with the spiciness of a habanero pepper, covered in 57% dark chocolate. “We’ve been using Vermont honey in our products since we started in 1983,” says Coffey, “With the rising interest in natural sweeteners as well as the awareness of the significance of pollinators in our environment, it was important to us to introduce another product using honey; this time capitalizing on the popularity of exotic chili peppers for a winning flavor!” Heavenly Honey Apiary will have samples of Vermont honey for customers to enjoy, alongside the new “hot honey” bar.
Bourbon Caramel & Mad River Distillers
A sultry and slightly smoky caramel is infused with Mad River Bourbon, from the up and coming Vermont distiller, and then covered with a dark-milk chocolate blend. “Exceptional flavor starts with extraordinary ingredients and LCC takes pride in collaborating with local producers to create products people love,” says Coffey. “We are thrilled to have Mad River Distillers at our store sampling and selling their bourbon to support the launch of the Bourbon Caramel bar.”
Raspberries & Dark Chocolate and Citizen Cider
A fresh approach to a timeless classic, this bar delivers authentic raspberry fruit flavor— tart and crunchy— in a dark chocolate bar. “We have teamed up with our friends at Citizen Cider to pair Raspberries and Chocolate with their Northern Spy Cider,” says Coffey. The pairing brings out the tartness of both the apple and raspberry for a pleasing and complementary pairing. Citizen Cider will be selling and sampling Northern Spy for customers to try the pairing for themselves. The Raspberry & Chocolate bar with a bottle of Northern Spy could be a unique gift with Valentine’s Day around the corner.
The bars are non-GMO, organic and fair trade certified. LCC is especially proud to continue the tradition of working with local producers as well as creating their own ingredients in-house, like the Dominican Republic roasted cacao nibs. The four new bars can be purchased at LCC’s three retail stores, Pine Street and Church Street in Burlington and on Route 100 in Waterbury, online at lakechamplainchocolates.com or at your local specialty or natural food market.
